The Family Crest have already earned widespread national applause for their extraordinary orchestral pop ambition but with THE WAR, the San Francisco-based collective makes their boldest, most fully articulated musical statement thus far. The second installment of what promises to be an epic musical saga, THE WAR: ACT I represents "the next version of The Family Crest," says frontman-founder Liam McCormick and indeed, the album reveals a band more in tune with it's own large-scale Baroque eclecticism. Preceded in early 2017 by the PRELUDE TO WAR EP, the new album marks the first act of a greater multi-tiered project, a kind of serial concept album with a pronounced thematic arc that weaves ideas of pride and memory, dissonance and divergence, into a purposefully ambiguous but undeniably unified whole.

If you want to be super productive then start here
Format: Paperback
I have been coding and implementing productivity processes for thirty years and I still found "The Art of Clean Code" engaging and valuable. I've done almost everything in the book, yet like many who have been in the field for a while, the refresher was timely. My work now is vastly different from my work in the '90's, and even what I was doing in the '80's. While the book uses Python examples the code is easy to read and applicable anywhere. Most of the guidelines given even benefit daily life, not just coding. Highly recommended!

Unimpressive
Format: Paperback
This book is very much part of hustle culture.
Each chapter contains a shallow dip into a programming principle followed by a metaphorical application of the principle to your career.
"10x your income by maximizing your productivity and earning while you learn through a Python side hustle! Here is one anecdotal example of someone who got rich after two months! Sign up for my course and you can do it too!"
I don't doubt Dr. Mayer's own expertise, but this is not really a book about coding; it's a book about hustling, and its main purpose seems to be to sell Dr. Mayer's course.
What disappoints me is that this book seems to be offered in bad faith. Dr. Mayer may be a true believer, but he probably knows that the vast majority of side hustlers won't make much money, and he probably knows the the tech bro culture around programming is a separate thing from software design per se.
I'm equally disappointed in No Starch. I have loved their books up till now; they let us down with this one.

Not only a book about coding, excellent philosophy of life
Format: Paperback
Basically a guide for software engineers of all skill levels on best practices in coding and how to maximize success in your professional life. Straight to the point with great examples. I’ve been a professional engineer for over 10 years and worked at top companies and I wish I read it sooner. This is a must read for anyone wanting to level up.

A Powerful Guide to Self-Discovery
