They were called aliens and enemies. But the World War II internees John Christgau writes about were in fact ordinary people victimized by the politics of a global war. The Alien Enemy Control Program in America was born with the United States's declaration of war on Japan, Germany, and Italy and lasted until 1948. In all, 31,275 "enemy aliens" were imprisoned in camps like the one described in this book--Fort Lincoln, just south of Bismarck, North Dakota. In animated and suspenseful prose, Christgau tells the stories of several individuals whose experiences are representative of those at Fort Lincoln. The subjects' lives before and after capture--presented in five case studies--tell of encroaching bitterness and sorrow. Christgau based his accounts on voluminous and previously untouched National Archives and FBI documents in addition to letters, diaries, and interviews with his subjects. Christgau's afterword for this Bison Books edition relates additional stories of World War II alien restriction, detention, and internment that surfaced after this book was originally published, and he draws parallels between the alien internment of World War II and events in this country since September 11, 2001.

Game changer for cable management – clean setup in minutes
Color: Black, Size: 36"L x 5.5"W, Color: Black, Size: 36"L x 5.5"W
This under-desk cable tray is exactly what I needed. Installation was stupid easy with the clamp mounts — no drilling, no damage to my desk, and it feels rock solid once tightened. The fabric tray holds way more than I expected (power strip + multiple cables) and keeps everything hidden instead of dangling everywhere. My setup instantly looks cleaner and more intentional. If you care about a minimal desk aesthetic, this is a no-brainer. Build quality is better than I expected for the price. The metal brackets are sturdy, the fabric is thick, and it comes with plenty of straps for organizing cables properly. If you’re tired of seeing cable spaghetti under your desk, buy this. Simple, effective, and worth every dollar. Highly recommended.

Worth every dollar
Color: Black, Size: 48"L x 5.5"W
This cable gutter is pure genius. You can unhook it and drop it down to access all your cables and everything, strap it all in nice and neat, and hang it back up. Super easy to wire up for a "permanent" set up, yet super easy to modify at any time. It makes the desk look SO CLEAN, and take way less effort. No zip ties, no nothing. My favorite part was it came with these awesome little velcro zip ties, so they are easy to undo and re-use. Worth every dollar.

Quick and easy
Color: Black, Size: 36"L x 5.5"W
Simple and quick fix for a lot of wires, looks good and is perfect if you like to hide your wires and forget about them. I recommend buying other cable management accessories if you want to really organize your cables, as this only comes with a few velcro fasteners. It’s also a little bit awkward getting it on and off the desk once you’ve already got the cables in it, so adding/removing cables is a little bit annoying.

beginner friendly cord managing 10/10
Color: White, Size: 36"L x 5.5"W, Color: White, Size: 36"L x 5.5"W
Love how easy it was to set up and get to working on the new desk setup in my room. This made my setup 10x better and more efficient for me and my tiny fur buddies. Holds plenty of cords and is super easy to keep secured on the desk. 10/10 for me. I can tell it’ll last a while. I’m not a pro and the cable managing could be better but this helped a ton.

Great product and easy to install. I purchased the 36 inch version and it’s just the right size for my desk. Makes securing and hiding the wires a breeze.
