Six Questions Your The Exercise Coach Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We built this fitness franchise financial model using detailed research on boutique strength training studios. Key assumptions like the $49,500 franchise fee, $140,000 equipment package, and 6% royalty are pre-populated and fully editable. This tool helps you see how a $600,000 Year 1 revenue target translates into a $155,000 EBITDA while managing a $7,800 monthly rent obligation.

Profitability Timeline

This franchise unit becomes profitable in March 2026, just three months after opening. By Year 5, net profit scales significantly as revenue reaches $1,245,000 and EBITDA hits $548,000, assuming you maintain a 6% royalty and 1% marketing fee structure. Profit follows membership density.

Boost Profitability

  • Optimize coach FTE levels
  • Increase intro assessment conversions
  • Control studio supply costs
[dynamic_pic9]

Capital Allocation

You need $374,500 in startup capital required for fitness studio franchise launch. This covers the $49,500 franchise fee, $120,000 in leasehold improvements, and $140,000 for specialized equipment, plus a cash buffer for the first two months of operations. Cash is king during the build-out phase.

Major Uses

  • Exerbotics Equipment: $140,000
  • Leasehold Improvements: $120,000
  • Franchise Fee: $49,500
  • Furniture and Fixtures: $25,000
[dynamic_pic10]

Investment Returns

The franchise investment ROI shows an IRR of 4.5% and a return on equity of 1.33. While the years to payback is 4, the average revenue for boutique fitness franchise units in this model suggests strong cash flow once the initial $374,500 is recovered. Patience pays off in year four.

Key Metrics

  • IRR: 4.5%
  • Payback: 4 Years
  • ROE: 1.33
[dynamic_pic11]

Break-Even Analysis

The monthly break-even point is reached in March 2026. The primary driver for break-even is membership volume, which must cover $7,800 in rent and $15,000+ in monthly payroll for the manager, lead coach, and concierge. Volume cures most operational headaches.

Speed Up Break-Even

  • Aggressive pre-opening marketing
  • High intro assessment volume
  • Strict labor hour control
[dynamic_pic12]

Cash Runway

The lowest cash point is $913,000 in June 2026, following the heavy equipment and build-out spend in early 2026. You need roughly six months of runway to handle the ramp-up from $280,000 in Year 1 membership fees to a mature state. Watch the gap between opening and ramping.

Protect Cash

  • Phase equipment payments
  • Negotiate rent abatement periods
  • Delay non-essential hiring
[dynamic_pic13]

Scenario Planning

Financial projections for boutique gym franchise units vary based on coach productivity and retention. A High scenario sees Year 1 revenue exceeding $600,000 through better personal training upsells, while a Low scenario might delay the 4-year payback period. Plan for the worst, execute for the best.

Hit High Case

  • Maximize coach scheduling efficiency
  • Drive high membership retention
  • Upsell training packages early

Ohhh Mr. Iguana
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Illana the Iguana - Large
Mr. Iguana is a house favorite! I got my first one of these in a barkbox and my dog loved it so much, i went on the hunt for another one. Amazon saved the day! I own about 7 of these now. They are prefect for dogs just love to chew, they hold up great! And they are heavy duty, super easy to clean! My dogs are very happy, great value for the money! Doesn't have a smell, vibrant colors! Noise level is quiet, minus my dogs chewing !

Not for strong chewers
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
Initially, I really liked this for my dog. She is about 8 months old and still loves to chew and destroys most toys in a few minutes. When we got this, it seemed like it would hold up for a while despite being clearly gnawed on. Unfortunately, once she focused on the softer "water" portion of the toy, that is where things went downhill with this toy. After a few short chew sessions, she was tearing chunks out of it. We had purchased a replacement since she liked the original so much, and after about 5 minutes with the replacement, she had taken enough out of the blue section that we immediately threw that one out as well. Overall while the green portion held up, the blue didn't. I can't recommend this for strong chewers.

Definitely not indestructable
Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large, Size: Medium/Large, Color: Dog Ness Monster - Large
I have a 1-year-old toy fox terrier (Rocky, pictured). He has been chewing on this toy for seven months now; it is one of his favorites. He has been unable to seriously damage the "ocean" portion of this toy, but as you can see from the provided image, the sea serpent has not faired that well. It is missing its snout and smaller portions of the humps. My guess is that the advertiser images showing much larger dogs with "like new" versions of the toy are just that...NEW AND UNCHEWED. I have not had to clean up bits of this toy from my floor, so I assume Rocky has been swallowing them. My hope is that the yellow material of the serpent is not chemically dangerous when exposed to digestive fluids. Rocky easily destroys plush toys in a matter of days if not hours and, consumed pieces of a small microfiber blanket that he liked to toss around and play tug-of-war with (past tense as he destroyed it and has since been trashed after I began finding feces-stained undigested pieces of it lying around). Since this toy has survived seven months and has remained recognizable, I have to agree it is durable. Just beware, if my small toy fox terrier can damage the toy as pictured, expect your large breed chewer to do similar or worse damage. Also, the toy is very heavy! When Rocky drops it down a flight of stairs, it makes a MAJOR thud at the bottom, and sometimes makes me wonder if it might crack the large tile at the bottom. I cautiously recommend the product. Note the yellow frisbee in Rocky's picture. It is only a few months old and surprisingly has not suffered any chew damage despite substantial abuse. It appears to bend in the wind like a proverbial reed, evading damage by yielding to pressure.

They were tough, but not mower blade tough
They were holding up well for my doggy that eats and destroys everything. He was sad when daddy didn't see it in the yard when he mowed. Does not hold up to mower blades sadly enough lol.

Tough, Durable, and Great for Heavy Chewers
The Feeko Heavy Duty Dog Rope Toys (2-pack) have been a great addition for my dog, who is a large breed and absolutely destroys most toys within days. These ropes have held up far better than expected and have become a go-to for daily tug-of-war sessions. The ropes are thick, tightly woven, and feel genuinely sturdy. Even with constant chewing and pulling, they’ve shown very minimal fraying so far. My dog loves grabbing both ends for tug games, and I like that it keeps him engaged and active. Another nice bonus is the teeth-cleaning benefit. While it’s not a replacement for dental care, the fibers definitely help reduce some buildup as he chews and plays, which is a nice added perk. The size is also appropriate for medium to large dogs—easy for them to grip without being too small or flimsy. Having two ropes in the pack is great for rotation or multi-dog households. The only thing to note is that, like all rope toys, they’re not truly “indestructible.” Very determined power chewers will eventually cause wear over time, so supervision is still recommended. Overall, this is a durable, well-made set of dog rope toys that holds up well for aggressive chewers and provides great value for the price.
