Tropheus Bulu Point African Cichlids
Overview

Description
Care®®The Cherryspot Tropheus is known from the central eastern coast of Lake Tanganyika, where it is found amongst the rocky habitat, grazing algae in the sunlit shallows. Currently these fishes are in need of classification and many of the forms are known as Tropheus sp. "ÀúBlack" or T. sp. "ÀúRed" together with their location or common name. As hybridisation may occur, it's best to keep Tropheus in groups of their own kind and these should be large in number to spread the aggression. Housing 15 or more of these feisty fishes requires a large aquarium and this should be 1.5m or more in length to allow individuals to avoid one another. Smaller groups inevitably dwindle as harassment and bullying proves too much for the females and weaker males. It is important that the entire group is added at the same time to avoid the aggression which would otherwise be directed towards any newcomers. When adding large numbers of fish in this manner, it's important that the filtration is cycled and capable of handling the waste load. Given the investment involved, the use of a Hydra filter and bacterial inoculation with products such as Microbe Lift are strongly advised. As always, water quality should be very carefully monitored over the first few weeks. Excellent water quality must be maintained at all times, with partial water changes carried out at least once or twice a week and this may require the addition of buffers to ensure the high pH and carbonate hardness levels required. Strong water movement will ensure high oxygen levels and helps to keep the fish fit and active.
Although Tropheus can be kept in fairly bare aquaria, several separate piles of rocks should be created (instead of a continuous rocky reef) so that individuals can more easily evade one another thanks to broken sight lines. Lighting should be bright to encourage the growth of algae over the decor, which these herbivores will enjoy browsing upon. Sharp rocks (such as lava rock) should not be used as they can cause damage to the mouths of these fishes as they graze.
Aside from a tendency to kill one another best controlled by keeping them in big groups, diet is the other major factor in successful care. These fishes are very prone to bloating caused by excessive quantities of rich food and this should be considered when mixing them with other species. Prospective tank mates should be able to thrive on the same diet and this may limit selection.
Feeding
A staple diet based on algae such as spirulina is recommended, together with occasional feeds of high-fibre frozen foods such as Daphnia, Mysis and Cyclops. Avoid feeding these fishes too generously. Fine sand substrates may be useful in aiding gut health by providing beneficial indigestible matter.
Breeding
Males should be outnumbered with females because of their constant desire to spawn, and this harassment (which can be quite intense) will then be spread, so that no one fish bears the brunt of the males' continual amorous attention. The trickiest part of conditioning females is ensuring they have sufficient opportunity to avoid being pestered by males. Properly kept, breeding occurs naturally and females mouth brood a small clutch (<20) of very large eggs for three weeks or more. Maternal care continues a little longer and fry are capable of feeding inside their mother's mouth. Young fish are preferentially released in shallow water with rich algal growth and fewer predators - having rockwork reaching the surface or piles of small stones will provide suitable areas.

Finally, a ball that made it!
Color: Blue, Color: Blue
I don’t know what is it with this ball, but it’s special. My dogs can absolutely tear up anything and this one seems like it can be chewed up but my dog loves it too much. He carries it all day, nibbles it and loves the squeaky sound of course. Finally found a winner!

Good size ball for my big boy
Color: Purple
My big boy loves this ball. He chews and chews and chews on it and it ain't made a dent in it. It's made a good quality rubber. It's got a squeaker in it. He hasn't managed to get it out which is not normal because normally he can get a squeaky out within 10 minutes. He goes through toys like I don't know what so it's being being a good. Really good ball. We've had it for about 2-3 months now and he hasn't been able to break into it and get squeaky out or even make a dent into it. That would tear up the the rubber

Sturdy ball, holding up well.
Color: Purple
I have a ball obsessed Shih Tzu. This has become his security blanket. He literally takes it everywhere and even sleeps with it next to him. Dexter loves any ball. All shapes and sizes. He will play fetch all day long if you let him. He doesn't know when to quit. It can be 100 degrees out with 80% humidity and he'll fetch all day long. This is a larger ball, I think just over 3 inches. It is entirely too big for a Shih Tzu, but it is perfect for Dexter. He came to us with a ball similar to this that he has since lost. He carries it in his mouth by placing his incisors in the indentations and lets it hang out the side of his mouth. Quite comical actually, but it works for him. We have bought him balls more for his size, but they're too small and he gets them lost under cabinets, furniture or any nook and cranny the ball will fit. And being obsessive, he will bark and carry on because he can't get to the ball until you come and rescue it. Difficult on our old knees. So he ends up getting the smaller balls taken away from him. The other night he was laying and chewing on this ball. It sounded like he was shredding this ball to pieces. I was afraid he would choke or swallow the rubber pieces, so I took it away from him. There wasn't anything wrong with the ball. It looked brand new. No chew or bite marks that I could see. I was impressed. It does have a squeaker, but I can barely get it to squeak and I have strong hands. A larger dog with a stronger bite force could probably easily make it squeak. It claims to have a beef scent to the toy, and maybe that is why he likes the ball so much. But I sniffed it and couldn't smell anything, which is fine by me, it won't have an obnoxious smell to where I don't want it around me.

Dogs love balls
Color: Orange
Most dogs love to play with balls. This is a ball. It squeaks and can handle a lot of strong chewing. Quite durable and a good size for medium and up sized dogs. (Honestly even smaller dogs would have fun with this).
