“Birds of a feather flock together. That is a natural phenomenon. If one associates with materialists, one develops a materialistic tendency; if one associates with devotees, one develops devotion to Krishna.”— A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Govardhana Puja
📅 10 November 2026
Govardhana Puja commemorates how Krishna saved the villagers of Vrindavan. The young Krishna lifted Govardhana Hill with His little finger to protect the people and cows from the torrential rains sent by Indra, the god of weather. This divine miracle showed that devotion and love for God are more powerful than material pride. Out of gratitude, the villagers prepared a huge amount of food and offered it in the shape of a mountain. To this day, temples all over the world continue this tradition with the so-called “Annakuta”: a great variety of dishes and sweets is artfully arranged in the form of a hill. Devotees walk around this symbolic hill in a parikrama while singing ecstatic mantras and kirtans. The festival also teaches us to honour Mother Nature and the cows, who are of immeasurable value for human life. It is a wonderful time of joy, deep gratitude and spiritual reflection for the whole community.
